Marvi Memon reveals her plans to revive the country at dua
People flood the shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai to hear her.
HYDERABAD:
Former MNA Marvi Memon is sanguine about her abilities to banish sociopolitical ills that have been plaguing Pakistan.
She read out her ‘objectives of struggle - resolutions’ at a dua (prayer) she arranged for the people of Sindh at the shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai in Bhitshah on Sunday. The two-and-a-half hour event started with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Several people spoke at the event, including Memon, the Sindh United Party (SUP) president, Jalal Mehmood Shah, and the caretaker of the shrine, Syed Nisar Hussain.
Memon accused the Pakistan Peoples Party of thrusting Sindh into various unmanageable problems along with the rest of the country. In her resolutions, she said that she would strive to protect the interests of Sindh and Pakistan. “We will raise our voices in the courts, on the streets and at every other platform to protect the minorities and stop the violation of human rights,” she said.
She also addressed the contentious issue of water sharing between Punjab and Sindh and demanded the implementation of the Indus Water Accord of 1991. Sindh must be given its fair share of water, she said.
Her objectives include the introduction of merit, elimination of violence and better utility services, free education, clean water as well as health services to people.
