The United States and European Union have called for further sanctions but Russia and China have been reluctant.

KO OLINA, HAWAII: US President Barack Obama said Sunday that the world was united in opposing Iran's nuclear program and that Washington would consult China and Russia, which oppose new sanctions, on new ways to pressure Tehran.

"We now have the situation where the world is united and Iran is isolated," Obama said at a press conference after a summit, adding his administration would have talks with the Chinese and the Russians in the next "several weeks."

Tension between Iran and its two principal foes, Israel and the United States, has risen since the release Tuesday of a UN report saying there was "credible" evidence suggesting Iran's atomic program was being used to research putting nuclear warheads in ballistic missiles.

The United States and European Union have called for further sanctions but Russia and China have been reluctant.

Obama's Republican opponents have sharply criticized him on Iran, with some saying he made the wrong decision early in his term to offer talks to the Islamic regime.

The American president Obama is wrong about the world being united against Iran. Only countries that are allies to the Usa will agree to that. The American president faces stiff opposition from Russia, China, India, Brazil, South Africa and many other countries on the Iran issue. Any action against Iran will not be tolerated. Not even sanctions against Iran will be allowed this time. This is because the abovementioned countries have invested heavily in the Iranian economy. These countries won't allow the repetition of what happened in Iraq in 2003. When the Iraq government was attacked over non existent nuclear weapons, other countries suffered collateral damage when the supply of oil and gas was cut off. This goes also to the Israelites who wanted to launch a preemptive strike on Iranian nuclear instalations. The conduct of the American troops especially in Afghanistan and Iraq have created more enemies throughout the world.
