QUETTA:

A remote-controlled explosion targeting a police patrol near the Bakra Mandi in Dera Murad Jamali on Saturday, left a woman and a teenage boy injured.

Some unidentified men planted an explosive device on a motorcycle and parked it along the road near the Bakra Mandi, police officials said. They detonated the device when the police patrol van passed by. The blast injured two passers-by, including a woman and a 14-year-old boy and left the police vehicle partially damaged.

The police cordoned off the area soon after the explosion and moved the injured to a government-run hospital. The injured were identified as Nazgul and Nasir Ahmed, who were said to be in stable condition. “The police patrol was the target of the blast. However, the personnel managed to survive the attack. However, two passers-by received minor injuries,” local police official Hidyatullah said.
