Police Preparations: No tickets for minor traffic violations

However, drivers who commit major violations would be punished.

LAHORE:
The traffic police will not issue tickets for minor traffic violations on Eidul Azha, the city’s chief traffic officer (CTO) said on Saturday. However, drivers who commit major violations such as speeding and dangerous driving, especially motorcyclists who do wheelies and other stunts, would be punished.  Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir said that more than 10,000 policemen would be on duty on Eid day, guarding parks and other places of recreation, mosques and Eidgahs, and markets.He said special police camps had been set up at various markets in the city. Policemen with metal detectors would check worshippers at mosques and imambargahs. Tahir said that divisional SPs had been directed to ensure that suspicious and unattended vehicles were searched and passengers frisked at bus stands and railway stations.
