Prison Reforms: Improving conditions for juveniles

The government to establish vocational centres in prisons to equip prisoners with skills.

PESHAWAR: The government is going to establish vocational centres women and juveniles in prisons to equip with skills so that they don’t engage in crimes once they are set free. This was said by Minister for Social Welfare Sitara Ayaz during her visit to the Peshawar Central Prison on Friday. The minister was briefed on the problems and living conditions of children and women languishing in prisons. She assured to take up the issue of having a separate prison for juveniles with the chief minister and added that the data on children in prisons would be shared with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees under the Foreign Act.
