Mass Wedding: 20 couples tie the knot in single ceremony
Organising committee distributed gifts and gave away a dowry and other necessary items worth Rs100,000 to each couple
FAISALABAD:
A total of 20 needy couples were married in a large Nikah ceremony arranged by Ushar and Zakat committee chairperson Muhammad Bilal Ansari in Chak No66-JB, Dhandra on Tuesday.
The organising committee also distributed gifts and gave away a dowry and other necessary items worth Rs100,000 to each couple. Most of the couples included orphans and locals said that they had no other means for arranging the marriage. Skahlila, who was married with Muhammad Aslam, told reporters that she was extremely grateful to the organisers of the event for helping her and her family cope with all the expenses of the wedding. “My parents passed away when I was a child and my uncle could not have afforded to arrange my marriage,” she said.
Muhammad Munir told reporters that the organisers bore the entire expense of the marriage but also helped arrange a match for him. A total of 700 guests attended the function.
