Dengue virus claims 3 more lives in Punjab

Punjab Health Department's data shows 176 new cases of dengue fever registered in Punjab.

LAHORE: The dengue virus claimed three more lives in Punjab raising the death toll to 301 in the province out of which 268 are from Lahore alone, Express 24/7 reported on Tuesday.

Punjab Health Department's data shows that 176 new cases of dengue fever have been registered in Punjab.

The total number of dengue patients in Punjab rose to 20,151 while 16,878 of them belong to Lahore.

Around 762 patients are under treatment in different hospitals.

As reported earlier, an expert advisory group has been approved by the Punjab government for treatment of dengue fever patients.

The group includes Prof Faisal Masood, Prof Javed Akram, Prof Tariq Sallahuddin, Prof Rakhshanda Rehman and Prof Tahir Masood.

The announcement was made by the Health secretary Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan.

The experts will visit hospitals around the clock and oversee the facilities and treatment being provided to patients. Khan also said that after Lahore, Faisalabad was the most affected district.
