Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has established a judicial commission to investigate the target killing of Dr Mazar Baloch.
While he did not say who will be heading the panel, or whether it will be a judge from the superior judiciary, Raisani assured Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) members that the culprits will not be spared.
Dr Baloch, who was the president of PMA Balochistan chapter, was shot in Quetta on October 14 and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Karachi. Raisani met PMA members on Friday to condemn the killing and assure the government’s full support to doctors.
The government, he said, will provide complete protection to doctors and ordered senior police officials to use all available resources to arrest the criminals who are targeting people of Balochistan.
The chief minister also promised that the government will soon announce compensation for Dr Baloch’s family. But while Dr Aftab Kakar, who led the delegation, appreciated Raisani’s keenness on the issue, he remained adamant that doctors will continue their two-hour-a-day strike until Dr Baloch’s murderers were brought to book.
Doctors at several hospitals across Balochistan have been on strike since October 17 to protest Dr Baloch’s murder.

Thank you Mr. Minister for the investigation, must be some important person by your standard, how about getting those guys who were involved in cold blooded murders of Shia and all the persons gone missing? or is this too much to ask of the Mr. Minister.
Good step from Mr. Raeesani but i also agreed with Muhammad who says what about thousands of others who lost their lives in similar killings in your province, and who will compensate their families ? that is a big questions mark on Federal and Provincial Govt of Pakistan.
Balochistan is the province where every member of parliament are minister and rest of Awam is there servants!
Mr. Raeesani, thank you for establishing a " judicial commission to investigate the killing of Dr. Mazar Baloch and compensate his family ".
But what about thousands of others who lost their lives in similar killings in your province, and who will compensate their families ?
