Pak-China friendship: Colours of harmony and peace bringing cultures together

Unique strategic alliance valued: Ambassador.

The opening ceremony of the Chinese Cultural Show at the Pak-China Friendship Center on Tuesday attempted to highlight the strong strategic alliance between the two countries.


The programme consisted of an exhibition of 60 traditional paintings, which were exclusively created for the event, by eight well-known Chinese artists. Stalls set up on the side featured artwork by Chinese painters including hand-painted souvenirs of warriors; on-the-spot artworks were also prepared showcasing the talent of the artists.

Speaking on the occasion, Me Jeng Ying, Chairman of the Chinese Heritage Foundation, said, “This is a special year [the declared year for Pak-China friendship]. This is why we have invited painters to celebrate the historic relationship.”

Additional Secretary Sajjad Khurral who served as the chief guest for the event hoped to achieve “greater cultural and economic interaction during this special year.”

A documentary depicting Chinese culture was also shown and guests were encouraged to view the paintings after the opening ceremony.

The Chinese Ambassador, Liu Jian spoke about the unique relationship between Pakistan and China and said, “Pakistan has made great contributions towards counterterrorism and the world should respect that.”

Ayesha, a guest when asked what she thought of the event said that it was well organised and exceeded expectations. It was attended by officials from the Chinese Embassy, China Heritage Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The exhibition has been organised by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and will remain open till October 29.
