LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday fired an information technology consultant for Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) over the large number of errors in the intermediate results compiled and announced through the online system. The decision to fire Dr Majid Naeem came in the wake of a spate of protests by intermediate students in several cities. BISE administration said Dr Umar Saif would replace Dr Naeem as the new IT consultant. They said Dr Saif had been directed to rectify the errors and announce updated results within 45 days. The provincial government had earlier cancelled the Intermediate Part I results of all eight BISEs in the province.  Dr Naeem had been hired last year to automate the process of registration and compilation of results. There have been complaints about the online system since the registration phase of martric and intermediate exams.
