Children from schools in Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) got a chance to participate in a colourful sports festival here on Thursday.
The festival aimed to develop a liking for playing sports and creating awareness about physical education among the youth and was held at the Pakistan Sports Complex.
Students, including physically impaired children, participated in the event that lasted for two hours. The young sportsmen participated in different sports activities such as push-ups, musical chairs and races.
The organisers also arranged a four-hour drawing competition based on the theme “Sports for all”, in which more than twenty students participated. The young artists made drawings that depicted harmony and peace. The first three winners were awarded prizes and will be invited to the British High Commission.
“This was a great opportunity to prove myself, “said Farwa Haider from Islamabad Model College for Girls I-10/4, who stood second in the competition.
Islamabad Model colleges for girls and boys of different sectors, Islamabad Science College, Khaldunia High School, and othersparticipated in the event. The festival was organised by the British High Commission in collaboration with the British Council.
