Historical conservation: Endowment fund announced for Moenjo Daro
Qaim Ali Shah announced an endowment fund worth Rs100 million.
KARACHI:
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah announced an endowment fund worth Rs100 million for preserving and protecting Moenjo Daro.
He made the announcement in a day-long “Moen-Jo-Daro National Conference”, organised by Sindh culture department in collaboration with Unesco on Saturday. Shah said that Moenjo Daro was on the verge of destruction because of ‘negligence and ignorance’ of the staff. A lot of effort is required to protect and preserve the monument fully.
Sindh Minister for Culture Sassui Palejo talked about the efforts of her department. She said that the bill of 1975 will be amended or another will be introduced in the provincial assembly for protecting historical sites.
