Hockey: Dispute between Indian bodies persists
Sports ministry held meeting with Indian Olympic Association.
NEW DELHI:
The Indian Sports Ministry's effort to end the long-standing imbroglio in hockey within the country ended on a futile note as differences continued to persist between Hockey India (HI) and Indian Hockey Federation (IHF).
Faced with prospect of India's hockey team being ousted from race to the Olympics, the sports ministry held a meeting with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), HI and IHF on Friday but that too failed to resolve the crisis related to hockey's governance in the country.
The IOA has now issued a 21-day deadline to HI and IHF to present a new merger proposal as the way forward.
