Social Change: ILO emphasises on gender equality

Speakers at a seminar on ‘Gender Equality’ emphasise collective efforts needed for promotion of gender equality.

ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a seminar on ‘Gender Equality’ on Tuesday emphasised that collective efforts are needed for the promotion of gender equality in Pakistan.

The conference was organised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Representative of Agha Khan University from Karachi, Amna Malik said that gender equality is necessary for a positive social change in society and upgrading the standard of living.

She urged implementation of those UN convention to which Pakistan is signatory.

ILO National Project Coordinator Farida Khan said that more than 200 representatives from the government, civil society, academia, donors, UN agencies and media attended the seminar.
