LAHORE: The Punjab University (PU) administration has yet to locate the record of about 113 degrees of the parliamentarians sent to it by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

A PU official told The Express Tribune that the university had located the record of 200 degrees and was in process of locating the rest. He said that the yet-to-be-located record pertained to the degrees awarded from 1948 to 1960.

The PU vice chancellor (VC) Dr Mujahid Kamran has constituted a special committee in this regard. The VC has directed it to submit a report on July 12 (today).

The HEC had sent 313 degrees of the parliamentarians to the PU for verification and asked the university to verify the degrees till July 13 (tomorrow).

The PU registrar Dr Muhammad Naeem said that he was not a part of the committee and was not updated on the issue. He said that the controller of examination would be in a better position to talk on the matter.

The controller Zahid Karim Khan and the chairperson of the special committee, who is also the Life Sciences dean Dr Shahida Hasnain declined comment.
