Police Abuse: Court orders medical checkup of Ayesha Malik

Daughter of PML-Quaid leader on a petition she moved alleging that police had physically abused her when arresting her

LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court on Monday ordered a medical checkup of Ayesha Malik, daughter of PML-Quaid leader Abdul Ahad Malik, on a petition she moved alleging that police had physically abused her when arresting her.

The petitioner asked the court to take action against the policemen for abuse of authority. The court directed the police to get her checked at Services Hospital and then submit a report.

Malik had been arrested on kidnap charges and remanded in judicial custody on the order of Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Tahir Pervaiz. She later petitioned the Lahore High Court against the arrest, and the chief justice observed that she appeared to have been victimised by the police and the judge. Malik claims to have a secret nikah with MNA Hamza Shahbaz and blames him for the cases against her. Monday’s hearing was not conducted at the court of ATC Judge Pervaiz.
