KARACHI: Amid a shortage of judges, a petition challenging the rejection of two candidates was put off on Monday for two weeks. The government had rejected Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai for the Sindh High Court even though a judicial committee had approved their names. The Sukkur High Court Bar Association then challenged this in court. But on Monday, during the hearing the government’s lawyer, Deputy Attorney General Ashique Raza requested more time to go through the case. Justices Maqbool Baqar, Faisal Arab and Sajjad Ali Shah allowed the request and and directed both sides to complete the preliminaries by the next hearing on October 24. The Sindh High Court is working with less than half its strength.
