BEIJING: Expressing satisfaction over the level of cooperation between Pakistan and China in civilian nuclear technology, President Asif Ali Zardari said the two countries had successfully addressed reservations of international community.

Addressing the Pakistan-China Economic Forum, President Zardari said that Pakistan will utilise all resources for power generation to overcome an acute energy crisis.

China’s action, he said, reflected the existence of deepest relationships between the two countries and a matter of pride for Pakistan.

Stressing the need for boosting economic cooperation between the two countries, the president invited Chinese entrepreneurs to take advantage of special incentives being offered in Pakistan. “We have to strengthen our bonds through enhanced economic cooperation to fulfill the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mao Tse Tung.”

Calling for realising the full potential of expanding bilateral economic ties, President Zardari said Pakistan and China needed to have a common stand for overcoming new regional challenges.

Stressing the need for linking the two countries via road and rail links, he urged Chinese investors to invest in engineering, banking, communication, agriculture and energy sectors in Pakistan. He said trade had effectively replaced the concept of conquest.

“I have come to China to learn [this country’s] miracles and benefit from its vast experience,” he said.

Zardari said that both countries should help each other in all spheres of life, including upholding their respective socio-economic agendas.

“China is a developed nation while Pakistan is a developing country and we have attached great importance to China for boosting our socio-economic programme,” the president said.

CEOs of Chinese companies working in various sectors in Pakistan gave presentations about the progress of development and energy products.

The forum was participated in by CEOs of leading corporations and institutions representing energy, construction, mining, petroleum, engineering, shipping, finance, banking, industries as well as chambers of commerce and industries.
