'Power turned off to protect system, not through malintent': MD PEPCO
MD PEPCO says they are investigating the unscheduled power shutdowns.

The Managing Director of PEPCO, Rasool Khan Mahsud is unaware of how the unannounced loadshedding happening across the country during the last week, claiming power was turned off to protect the system .
The PEPCO chief made this astonishing claim while talking to Express News in Lahore on Friday.
The Mahsud, while resenting unannounced loadshedding made it clear that that there was no political element or vested purpose behind the unscheduled prolonged loadshedding that forced the people to come out on to the streets, rather the power had been switched off to protect the system.
“PEPCO is still unaware of how all this happened ... the organisation will be investigating the cause,” he said.
Mahsud also believes that the people have a right to protest but they ought not to damage property. He said that the violent protests in Punjab caused a loss of Rs10 million to GEPCO and LESCO.
Mahsud also says that PEPCO is working on urgent basis to overcome power crisis and bring relief to the people.
He said that Lahore and other cities of Punjab were now being provided uninterrupted power supply.
