Sugar mills to register with PSQCA in 15 days
KARACHI:
Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Azam Khan Swati, has said that all the sugar mills in the country should get registered with the quality control authority in 15 days, otherwise the government will take action against them.
Sub-standard preparation of goods would not be tolerated in any case, he said. Swati issued this warning during a visit to the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) head office.
He said that the government has decided to take proper action against the manufacturers of substandard goods. Meanwhile, he said, the manufacturers of quality products in the country will be encouraged.
He said that the PSQCA must also ensure issuance of licences to only those manufacturers who fully comply with its requirements relating to quality and standards.
He took a serious notice of non-compliance with the standards and manufacturing and sale of substandard goods. He appreciated the new Director General, Irfan Nadeem, for the working of the mobile testing lab task force.
“This gives a good name to PSQCA all over the country,” he said. He announced that more mobile testing lab teams will start working within 30 days in other cities.
He informed the media that new laws are under consideration and the 35-year-old logo of PSQCA will be changed soon.
