The managing director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), Misbahuddin Farid, stepped down from office on Monday.
Zaheer Abbas Zaidi, the chief engineer, said that it seemed that Farid had resigned in the wake of a crises over poor water supply to the consumers.
However, the director was also under tremendous pressure from the higher authorities and some political leaders for the past week. He was told that he would be removed from office.
“Farid was outspoken about an influential public utility over power breakdowns,” said a KWSB official who did not want to be named. “He also criticised the DHA administration time and time again.”
It is expected that a new MD will take charge on Tuesday. The board has not had a chairman for about three years.
