KARACHI:

With prolonged power and gas outages bringing daily life in Lyari to a grinding halt, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday staged a protest rally from Lyari Gate, Musa Lane, to the Karachi Press Club, warning of a siege of K-Electric and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) offices if the crisis was not resolved.

The rally, organised by PPP District South, was attended by party leaders and local residents protesting against up to 18 hours of unannounced electricity and gas outages in the neighbourhood. PPP MNA Sardar Nabil Gabol urged Sindh CM to wield his authority and crack down on unannounced load-shedding. He said he had taken up the matter with KE, pointing out that residents had consistently paid their electricity bills but were still being denied power.
