Two children crushed to death

Third child critically injured; driver held, police say the three minors were riding one bike

HYDERABAD:

Two schoolchildren were killed and another critically injured when a tractor-trolley struck their motorcycle near the Mayor's Secretariat on Thandi Sarak in Hyderabad on Sunday.

According to police, the accident occurred the GOR police station when the tractor-trolley hit the motorcycle, throwing its occupants onto the road and bringing them under the wheels of the heavy vehicle.

The deceased were identified as Rayan, son of Ashiq Hussain Chandio, and Faheem, son of Saleem Chandio, while the injured child was identified as Azaan, son of Muhammad Shafi Chandio. Police said the three children, aged between nine and 13, were travelling on a single motorcycle, which was being driven by one of the minors. Faheem and Rayan were students of fourth and fifth grades, respectively, while Azaan was studying in eighth grade. Police arrested the tractor-trolley driver, identified as Jahanzeb Kandhro, and impounded the vehicle following the accident.

The injured child and bodies of the deceased were shifted to Civil Hospital Hyderabad, where the bodies were handed over to their families.
