Mckenna Grace has continued her The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping press tour with another fashion tribute to the franchise, this time channeling Lucy Gray Baird in an archival Gucci gown.

The actress attended the film’s London photocall in a Gucci Fall 2016 gown designed by Alessandro Michele, featuring colourful bird embroidery, snake motifs and cascading ruffles that transition from green to pink.

The look was a deliberate reference to Rachel Zegler’s Lucy Gray Baird, the character introduced in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

The gown’s embroidered birds and snakes echoed the earlier film’s themes, while its tiered, colourful skirt recalled the dress Lucy Gray wore during her performances. The nature-inspired details also connected with Sunrise on the Reaping, which features its own symbolism drawn from the natural world and the mockingjay.

Grace, who plays Maysilee Donner in the upcoming prequel, has been embracing the franchise’s fashion legacy throughout the film’s promotional tour. Working with stylist Molly Dickson, the actress has worn a series of outfits referencing characters, costumes and symbols from the Hunger Games films.

Her latest look also carried an unexpected connection to her co-star Elle Fanning.

Fanning previously wore the same Gucci Fall 2016 gown for a 2016 W Magazine editorial, although she did not wear it on the red carpet. The similar bird-embroidered Gucci Spring 2016 dress she wore to the 2015 Trumbo premiere had initially prompted the fashion comparison.

Grace’s archival Gucci appearance adds another carefully chosen reference to a press tour that has turned her wardrobe into a celebration of the franchise’s visual history.
