Ella Purnell returns as killer Rhiannon Lewis in 'Sweetpea' season 2 as a copycat threatens to expose her crimes

Ella Purnell is returning as Rhiannon Lewis in the second season of Sweetpea, with Sky and Starz releasing a full trailer and new images ahead of the thriller’s return.
The dark comedy picks up after the deadly events of the first season finale, following Rhiannon as she navigates new challenges in her personal and professional life. Now promoted at the local newspaper where she works, the former wallflower must also contend with a copycat killer who threatens to expose her crimes.
As Rhiannon’s kill list grows, she begins questioning her identity and whether her ex-boyfriend AJ was right to describe her as a monster.
Purnell, known for her role in Fallout, will reprise her lead role in the series. New cast members include Rish Shah, who plays Rhiannon’s romantic interest Gabriel, and Tamsin Greig as Liv, AJ’s mother.
Taj Atwal joins the cast as Freya, Rhiannon’s new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, while Jenny Walser plays Daisy, a new friend. Returning cast members include Jon Pointing, Jeremy Swift, Leah Harvey, Ingrid Oliver, Nitin Ganatra and Alexandra Dowling.
Based on C.J. Skuse’s novel of the same name, Sweetpea is produced by See-Saw Films and fanboy in association with Sky Studios. Patrick Walters serves as an executive producer alongside Helen Gregory, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman. Purnell and Ella Jones are also executive producers.
Selina Lim, who leads the writing team for season 2, serves as co-executive producer alongside Emme Hoy, Simon Gillis and Natasha Heliotis. Lim is joined by writers Hoy, Anna Jordan and Laura Jayne Tunbridge.
Sweetpea season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Sky in the UK in November 2026, with its release on Starz expected in early 2027.
