Dolly Parton's nephew caught in fresh legal twist as estate seeks bodycam footage

Dolly Parton's estate is seeking bodycam footage of a police response involving the late country music star's nephew, Bryan Seaver, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

According to TMZ, court documents show that She's Alive, the entity managing Parton's estate, has requested all body-worn camera footage from officers who responded to the hospital on August 24 and 25, 2026. Parton died on August 25 at the age of 80.

Sources close to Seaver told TMZ that he visited the medical centre to discuss arrangements for transporting Parton's body to a funeral home. They denied that an altercation took place and maintained that Seaver did not behave inappropriately during the interaction.

Seaver reportedly believes police responded because they had been instructed to prevent him from approaching Parton. However, the circumstances surrounding the request for bodycam footage have not been fully established.

The development comes amid an ongoing legal dispute between Seaver and the people managing Parton's estate. Seaver, who previously served as the singer's head of security, was dismissed following the circulation of messages that prompted allegations of threats against her businesses.

Representatives managing the estate have accused Seaver of making threats, while he has maintained that his comments concerned damaging their reputation rather than causing physical harm.

The dispute has also involved a temporary restraining order against Seaver and his security company. According to TMZ, a court extended the order until November 10, when the parties are scheduled to return to court.

Seaver had previously challenged the extension of the restraining order. The latest request for police bodycam footage adds another development to the legal proceedings surrounding Parton's estate.

The footage could provide additional information about the hospital encounter, although the request itself does not establish that any wrongdoing occurred. Further details about the court filing and the police response have not been disclosed.
