Shane Gillis has faced criticism following comments about women’s gym clothing during a recent Saturday Night Live monologue, prompting a response from his former girlfriend, influencer Grace Brassel.

Gillis discussed his weight-loss journey during a 7-minute routine, making remarks about women’s workout outfits that drew criticism from gym-goers.

“I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t know women just dress like wh*res now?” he said. “Look, I’m sorry, there’s no other way to describe [it]. Have you seen it? I’ve seen it. You’ve seen the shorts? They’re those neon, like, artificial bait-colored [shorts], and the wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole. And don’t look! You’re not allowed to look.”

The comments sparked backlash from members of the fitness community, with Brassel also entering the conversation.

Days before the monologue, Brassel had spoken publicly about a difficult past relationship, sharing a message on social media about her experience and recovery.

“Last year I was in a relationship that fully stripped me of who I am. I’ve been so terrified to even talk about what I went through, especially after relentless bullying from his fanbase (for no reason). I want to share this to let women know IT GETS BETTER!!” she wrote.

She added, “And you can do it! I had it on level hard mode and I survived! And I’ve never been happier,” describing her progress following the break-up.

Following Gillis’ gym-related remarks, Brassel posted an Instagram video featuring a full-body workout, describing it as a “full body workout for the h*es.”
