Ben Affleck reveals what he learned from Jennifer Lopez during their marriage
Ben Affleck praises ex-wife Jennifer Lopez's work ethic, calling her the hardest-working person he has ever known

Ben Affleck has praised Jennifer Lopez's work ethic and career achievements, saying he learned a great deal from the singer and actress during their relationship and marriage.
The 54-year-old actor shared his thoughts during an appearance on The Moment with Jorge and Paola Ramos, released on Wednesday, October 14. Asked about what he learned from Lopez and her experiences navigating Hollywood, Affleck said it was difficult to summarise everything he gained from knowing her.
Affleck described Lopez, 57, as a pioneer who continued pursuing opportunities despite being told that certain achievements were impossible. He also highlighted how she used social media to demonstrate that audiences were interested in her work.
The Animals actor said Lopez faced significant criticism throughout her career, suggesting that a double standard influenced how her professional achievements were perceived. He praised her willingness to take risks, invest her own money and build a successful career through determination.
“I stand in enormous respect for what she’s been able to achieve,” Affleck said, adding that she had consistently believed in herself even when others did not.
He also offered a personal assessment of her work ethic, describing Lopez as “probably the hardest working person that I’ve ever known”.
Affleck and Lopez first became romantically involved in the early 2000s and ended their engagement in 2004. They rekindled their relationship nearly two decades later, married in July 2022 and separated in 2024. Their divorce was finalised in January 2025.
Despite their separation, the former couple maintained a professional connection through Kiss of the Spider Woman, the 2025 film produced by Affleck and Matt Damon's company, Artists Equity. Affleck also attended the film's New York premiere to support Lopez.
During the podcast, Affleck said he had learned not only from Lopez but also from her family and the people he met through them. He added that he wished her continued success, saying she deserved it.
