Jamie Foxx joins 'East of the River' as producer, backing Dennis Latos’ crime thriller about two estranged brothers.

Jamie Foxx has joined the independent crime thriller East of the River as a producer through his Foxxhole Productions banner, alongside Alex Marks, according to Variety.

Directed by Dennis Latos, the film follows two estranged brothers who reunite to confront an underground poker ring that destroyed their family. The cast includes Ben Barnes, Ben Ahlers, Callie Hernandez and Maria Sten, alongside David Zayas, John Bedford Lloyd, Catherine Curtin, Nathan Wallace and Steven Gregory.

Barnes is known for The Chronicles of Narnia franchise and The Punisher, while Ahlers has appeared in The Gilded Age and Little Brother. Hernandez’s credits include The Flight Attendant and Alien: Covenant. Sten is taking on her first film role since starring in the television series Neagley.

Former WWE wrestler James Storm and former NFL running back Dalvin Cook are also part of the cast.

According to Variety, post-production on East of the River has recently wrapped, and global distribution rights are available through CAA Media Finance. However, a release date has not yet been announced.

Elise Finnerty wrote the screenplay based on a story by Jim Tamburino, while Ben Grant served as director of photography.

Foxx and Marks are producing alongside Nicolas Alvo of Ruta 5 Films, Benjamin Wiessner of Vanishing Angle, Latos and Finnerty. Executive producers include David Schuster of Gloves Up Entertainment, Steven Gregory, John Harms, Gerry Ambrose and Foxx’s daughter, Corinne Foxx. The film is presented by Gloves Up Entertainment in association with Echo Bend Productions.

In a joint statement, Foxx, Corinne Foxx and Marks praised Latos’s storytelling, citing his short film Leylak as the work that first drew their attention to the director.

Latos described East of the River as a combination of gritty family drama and crime thriller, exploring the dangerous consequences of being forced into desperate situations.

With post-production complete, the film is seeking a global distributor.
