Ryan Reynolds’ texts about Justin Baldoni emerged as reports claim his marriage to Blake Lively is facing difficulties

Ryan Reynolds’ private text messages about Justin Baldoni have been revealed in newly unsealed court documents, as reports continue to suggest that Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, have faced difficulties amid the fallout from It Ends With Us.

The messages, obtained by Page Six, show Reynolds discussing the controversy surrounding Lively and Baldoni, who directed and starred alongside her in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel.

In a text sent to Hoover on August 10 2024, Reynolds criticised the public response to the dispute, writing, “It's amazing to me that you can have everybody involved with a production completely run away from a person who is obviously a predator and sociopath and the narrative must first land on why a woman is the problem,” Reynolds wrote to Hoover.

He continued, “It's amazing to me how low people still go,” Reynolds continued. “But people are already coming forward and soon enough someone is just gonna go on record.”

Hoover responded, “It's mind-blowing,” she said. “But also I feel like the loud ones are mostly 13-year-olds who don't have fully developed brains yet and will be mortified by their thought process a few years from now.”

She added, “Good to hear it's already beginning to skew away from him.”

Reynolds replied, “Surprising it's mostly girls. At least, that's what I've seen. And the really smart folks already know. Although the narrative at the moment is how insanely well the film is performing and how much audiences love it. So…”

The exchange took place months before Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment during filming. Baldoni denied the allegations.

A source close to Reynolds told Page Six that he had been trying to protect his wife, who the source claimed was targeted by a crisis public relations team hired by Baldoni. The source also referenced allegations against the team in other lawsuits.

Reports of strain in the couple’s marriage emerged in June 2026, when an insider said that the period had been difficult. The source said the pair were “struggling” but continuing to push through the challenges.

Baldoni subsequently filed a $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds and their public relations team. His case was dismissed in June 2025, while Lively and the remaining defendants in her case reached a settlement in May 2026.
