RAWALPINDI:

The investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in the Dhoke Najju area of the Pirwadhai police station jurisdiction is set to be transferred to the Crime Control Department (CCD). The suspect, Mumraiz, remains at large despite multiple police operations.

According to sources, legal formalities for transferring the investigation to the CCD are expected to be completed today (Saturday). Following the transfer, special CCD teams will launch operations to arrest the suspect.

Sources added that Rawalpindi police had formed four special teams and dispatched them to different areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to apprehend Mumraiz. However, the teams have so far failed to arrest him despite sustained efforts.

The case was initially registered at Pirwadhai Police Station following the minor girl's disappearance while she was on her way from home to a madrassa. After her murder, the charge of murder was added to the case on Thursday.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage that emerged on Thursday has provided an important lead in the investigation. The footage reportedly shows the nominated suspect meeting the victim in a street.

Police are continuing their search for the suspect, examining the CCTV footage alongside other available evidence.
