Revenge vote

When Kamala was running against Trump in 2024, she had more money at her disposal than Trump in order to reach the American voters. Money usually determines the result of an election but sometimes people get fed up and reject all the noise and line up to support anything that fights against the side they hate.

At least that is how I voted back in 2024 when I voted for Trump. It is not that I liked him. But I just wanted to punish the one guy or rather girl who had blindly supported Israel in its genocide against the Palestinians. And I was sickened by Biden's interference in other countries' politics as well. The American people struggled with paying their bills. Living a decent life became a challenge. The credit card debt rose over a trillion dollars. All on Biden's watch. The people had to punish that. Those days are over when people used to vote for the guy they liked. It is the age of revenge voting. I have voted twice in my entire life. And both times, it was a textbook revenge vote.

My second vote was in this Midterm election in the US that just happened and results are coming in as I am writing this piece. But with the results already in, the nation is experiencing what is quickly becoming a social media trend titled Blue Tsunami, meaning the Democrats are winning across many states. Kansas flipped blue after 94 years, which is mind boggling. Texas also flipped blue after more than 3 decades. I voted for the Democrats. Not because I truly admired James Talarico. I didn't even know most people on the ballot but I voted for all Democrats. Every tap on the screen felt like a deliberate act of defiance against Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the rest of the company.

Trump did not learn from how he won from Kamala in 2024. Like I mentioned, she had more money in her campaign than Trump did. This time around, Elon Musk spent close to half a billion dollars to support the Republicans. They faced a shameful loss. It was a slap in the face of Elon Musk by the American people. With money, a lot more noise can be made than those with less money. One can become more famous and more well known. But it doesn't necessarily mean that one would also become more popular. The Indian actor Amresh Puri was as famous as Amitabh Bachchan because they almost always were in the same movie. But Amresh wasn't popular at all. Actually, people hated him and wanted him dead in every movie.

I am personally moved by the outcome of this election because for many months it always felt like even in America, corruption ruled and power always won. As if money always defeated genuineness. Elon Musk and his close alliance of convenience with Trump made many Americans lose faith in the political system because truth, merit and honesty didn't matter.

Tesla reported zero federal income tax. SpaceX gets massive government contracts. Musk's companies wouldn't even be profitable without US government subsidies as many experts point out. All this and many other aspects of massive corruption at the highest echelons of power inside the United States left many of us hopeless and angry. Musk gave $190 million directly to the Super PAC of Ken Paxton because Paxton has regulatory oversight powers over businesses in Texas, including Musk's companies in Texas. While Musk cut funding to education and research through DOGE, he had half a billion to spend for propaganda. The fact that this repulsive liar would have to lawyer up or suck up to Trump for a pardon clearly shows that the American system still has hope. When enough people unite around a cause, they can defeat any amount of money and power. And that is what we saw in America tonight.

Tonight it is the abusers that are feeling abused. I will take that anyday.
