Mia Goth has asked a Los Angeles court for sole legal and physical custody of her four year old daughter, Isabel, as part of her divorce proceedings involving Shia LaBeouf.

The actress filed for divorce on October 6, citing irreconcilable differences and listing July 28, 2025, as the date the couple separated. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Goth is requesting sole legal and physical custody while asking that LaBeouf receive visitation with their daughter.

The custody request puts Isabel at the centre of proceedings following their split. It was reported that Isabel has lived with Goth since the separation, while LaBeouf later moved to New Orleans.

Goth and LaBeouf welcomed Isabel in 2022 after reconnecting following years of an on and off relationship. They first met while working on Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012 and held a Las Vegas wedding ceremony in 2016. Officials later said the ceremony was not legally binding.

Goth has previously spoken warmly about her relationship with Isabel. In an October 2025 interview with ELLE, she described motherhood as a "psychedelic experience" and called her daughter "the greatest gift of my life". She also said she hoped to be a steady presence for Isabel and wanted her daughter to always have a home and somewhere to turn.

LaBeouf pleaded guilty in June 2026 to misdemeanor battery charges linked to a February Mardi Gras altercation in New Orleans. He was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to complete alcohol rehabilitation, sensitivity training and anger management classes.

Goth’s divorce petition does not publicly state a specific reason for her custody request. Her filing also asks that neither party receive spousal support.

The custody matter will form part of the proceedings as Goth seeks to establish legal and physical custody arrangements for Isabel.
