Van Hunt is reportedly supporting his fiancée Halle Berry as she faces an ongoing custody dispute with her former husband, Olivier Martinez, according to a source cited by Star.

"He loves her and wants to be there for her," the source said. "But it's incredibly tough for him to know what to do or what to say because she's so on edge all the time."

The comments come after Martinez requested sole custody of the former couple’s 13-year-old son, Maceo.

According to a report cited by Star, Martinez alleged that Berry "physically abused" their son in late September and claimed there had been "other instances of abuse" in the past.

The allegations have not been established as fact. Berry and Martinez have both filed court documents as they continue their dispute over custody arrangements.

The source said Hunt, 56, was present during the alleged altercation and described the situation as difficult for him.

"There's no doubt he's finding it very challenging to be with her right now," the source said. "This is not an easy road at the moment, that's for sure."

The source also claimed that the custody dispute had been developing privately for some time and had become increasingly difficult for Berry.

"Olivier's legal filing has exposed a very private situation that has been going on for a very long time," the source said. "This is not new, but it's been progressively getting worse to the point where it's now taken over her life."

Berry has since filed her own court documents, requesting that the former couple’s 50/50 custody arrangement be restored.

She has also asked that Martinez be required to attend their court-mandated therapy sessions. A representative for Martinez said his priority was Maceo’s wellbeing.

"Mr. Martinez's paramount concern is the safety and wellbeing of the minor child Maceo," the statement read. "He is not interested in mudslinging or disparaging Ms. Berry through the media."
