Dakota Johnson responds to dating rumours, including MGK speculation, with a blunt three-word message to fans

Dakota Johnson has addressed ongoing speculation about her dating life, saying she sees little point in responding to rumours about her personal relationships.

During a September 25 appearance on Vogue’s The Run-Through podcast, the Materialists actress explained why she does not usually correct reports about who she is dating. Johnson said that even ordinary outings can lead to speculation about a “mystery man”.

When asked whether she feels the need to set the record straight, Johnson said she believes doing so is “futile” because people will believe what they want. She added that she does not have the energy to continually respond to rumours.

Johnson also offered a blunt three-word response to people who remain interested in her romantic life: “Get a life.”

The comments come amid speculation that Johnson has developed a romance with rapper Machine Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker. Neither Johnson nor MGK has publicly confirmed a relationship.

According to PEOPLE, a source previously claimed that the pair “hit it off” while attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s summer wedding and have since spent time together privately. Johnson and MGK have also been photographed together in New York City.

Johnson has previously spoken about her relationships with musicians, including Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and singer Role Model. During a recent Vogue interview, she joked about her attraction to musicians while describing them as “tricky”.

The actress also said she values privacy and prefers people not knowing where she is or what she is doing. Johnson explained that she finds the constant documentation of people’s lives uncomfortable and largely avoids social media outside of work.

Her latest comments make clear that she intends to keep speculation about her love life largely private.
