UHS opens MDCAT 2026 recount, review portal for result verification

Applications will be processed within five working days, with no complaints accepted after September 30

The University of Health Sciences (UHS), which conducted the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 in Punjab on September 20, has activated an online Recount and Review Portal for candidates seeking verification of their results.

The applications are to be processed within five working days and no complaints will be entertained after September 30. The university’s decision in recounting will be final.

"A candidate may question the calculation of marks, reading of the response sheet, an answer contained in the official key or even a particular question. Each matter requires a different form of verification,” said a health department official.

Under the UHS procedure, a candidate seeking recounting or review has to provide the reason for the application and upload the result card. A carbon copy of the bubble sheet can also be uploaded.

The applicant then generates the bank challan, pays the fee and uploads proof of payment before final submission.

The application is subsequently forwarded to the UHS Examination Cell.

The carbon copy gives candidates a personal record of the responses marked during the examination, said the official.

The universities organising the test were required to provide candidates the sheets carrying carbon copies and to preserve the examination record for a specified period.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had also directed the universities to provide a mechanism for rechecking and to display the official answer key.

One of the most likely sources of an apparent discrepancy is improper marking of the sheet. The MDCAT instructions had stated that an improperly filled bubble would be treated as an incorrect response. Since the sheet is processed electronically, an incomplete or unclear marking can produce a result different from expected.

The UHS has published separate answer keys for different paper codes and opened an answer key complaint facility. Candidates are required to identify the disputed question and provide evidence for their objection.

If a candidate believes the official answer to a multiple-choice question is incorrect, the matter concerns the answer key, while if the responses were not properly reflected in the score, the issue falls within result verification.

The UHS information booklet provided for validation of questions by subject experts and stated that an MCQ found inappropriate or invalid for assessment could be deleted with the score adjusted according to policy.

In tests like the MDCAT, small differences in marks can influence admission prospects.
