'Reacher' renewed for season 6 ahead of season 5 premiere

Prime Video renews 'Reacher' for season 6 as Alan Ritchson’s action series continues its global success

Prime Video has renewed Reacher for season 6, extending the action series starring Alan Ritchson before season 5 has premiered.

The renewal comes as the Amazon series continues to attract a large global audience. According to Amazon, Reacher season 4 reached 66 million viewers worldwide within its first 28 days after launching on August 12. The eight-episode season concluded on September 16.

The series has now reached 200 million viewers globally across all seasons, while season 4 ranks among the five most-viewed seasons of an Amazon original series on Prime Video, according to the company.

Ritchson stars as Jack Reacher, the former military investigator at the centre of the series based on Lee Child’s bestselling novels. Season 4 was adapted from Child’s Gone Tomorrow, which follows Reacher after a chance encounter on a subway draws him into a dangerous situation.

Production on Reacher season 5 is currently underway in Toronto. The upcoming season is based on Child’s novel Make Me and will continue Ritchson’s run as the title character.

Nick Santora serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer on the series. Child and Ritchson also executive produce, alongside Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Lisa Kussner, Sam Hill, Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen.

The renewal follows the recent launch of Neagley, a Reacher spinoff starring Maria Sten as Frances Neagley. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Paramount Television Studios.

Amazon has not yet announced additional details about the Reacher season 6 storyline or its release date.
