Taylor Swift’s ‘Patient Zero’ video with Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell to premiere at VMAs

Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” music video, starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, is set to make its world premiere at the MTV VMAs on Sunday.

Swift directed the video for the new song, which will be released on Friday alongside The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore. The singer will also receive the inaugural Artist-Director Award at the ceremony.

Swift previewed the video during CBS Mornings before sharing the teaser on social media.

The cinematic footage features Swift and Johnson mirroring each other in several scenes, including at a bathroom sink, underwater and beside a grave.

Farrell later appears stepping out of a car before joining the pair, with all three dressed in black.

The teaser also includes a close-up of Swift crying, prominently showing her engagement ring to Travis Kelce.

Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, known for The Revenant and Birdman, handled the cinematography.

“Patient Zero” is one of four new songs featured on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded edition of Swift’s 2025 album. The additional tracks are “Cleveland!”, “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.”

The MTV VMAs will air Sunday at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT on CBS, with simulcasts on MTV and Paramount+ in the US.
