Carrot Top spoke about how much he enjoyed his life in Las Vegas roughly a year before he was hospitalised following a reported suicide attempt.

The comedian, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, had previously opened up about the benefits of settling in Las Vegas after years of travelling for work. He described being at home as having “giant advantages” and said the change helped him realise the physical toll that life on the road had taken.

“You don’t realize, like, how much you’re destroying your body until you stop doing it,” Thompson said, reflecting on the difference between touring and having a more settled routine.

At the time, Thompson said he had little desire to return to the constant demands of touring, instead enjoying a slower and more ordinary routine in Las Vegas. His comments have resurfaced following his hospitalisation on Friday, September 18.

Thompson was taken to a Las Vegas-area hospital after a reported suicide attempt, according to multiple reports. His representative later confirmed that he was recovering in hospital and receiving care and support, while asking for privacy on behalf of his family and those closest to him.

His Friday and Saturday performances at the Luxor were cancelled following the hospitalisation. Thompson has maintained his Las Vegas residency at the Luxor since 2005 and has become one of the city's best-known resident comedians.

The comedian has not publicly commented on his hospitalisation, and his representative has not disclosed further details about his condition or what led to the incident.
