Blizzard announces Diablo animated series for Netflix while teasing possible Overwatch and WoW adaptations

Blizzard Entertainment has announced an animated Diablo TV series for Netflix, while also teasing potential adaptations based on Overwatch and Warcraft.

Blizzard president Johanna Faries revealed the Diablo project during the opening announcements at BlizzCon 2026.

The series is currently the only adaptation officially confirmed, although Faries indicated that Blizzard has plans to explore its other major franchises for television and potentially other formats.

"As a big Diablo player myself, and as someone who loves the indulgent darkness of Sanctuary, I am very excited to see this project come to life," Faries said.

The announcement places Diablo among Blizzard's latest projects outside the company's traditional videogame releases.

The franchise is set in the world of Sanctuary, which serves as the setting for the Diablo games and their conflict between the forces of Heaven and Hell.

Blizzard has not yet provided further details about the animated series, including its release date, episode count, creative team, plot or voice cast.

Faries also teased possible adaptations of Overwatch and Warcraft, telling viewers to watch for further news about the two franchises. No specific projects, formats or release plans for either adaptation have been announced.
