Journalist Jeff Sneider has apologised to actress Inde Navarrette and deleted posts in which he said she could face “non-stop rumors” after claiming her representatives had ignored him.

Sneider issued the apology shortly after his comments received attention on September 4. In a post on September 5, he wrote, "Tired of the noise so I'll delete and apologize, as per protocol," before addressing Navarrette directly.

"I am sorry to Ms. Navarrette, who was and will continue to be treated fairly, despite previous comments suggesting otherwise."

Sneider said his "ego got the best of" him and that he had "went overboard with my victory celebration". He added that he would use the holiday weekend "to reflect and maybe I'll return kinder and gentler."

The apology followed posts from Sneider a day earlier in which he said he planned to cover Navarrette "for a long time". He said he could either be "a useful friend to her team" or "share literally everything I hear about her."

After an X user described his comments as complaining, Sneider responded, "Complaining? I wasn't complaining. That was a threat!" He then wrote, "Engage, or don't, and be subjected to non-stop rumors."

Sneider also said he would "love to continue being ignored" because it allowed him to "say whatever I want," which he described as "very lucrative."

In his apology, Sneider said some messages he had received were "absolutely crazy" and referred to "death threats or anti-Semitic comments", although the supplied report notes that he did not provide examples.

He concluded, "This app is nuts, but I'll never leave, because we deserve each other."
