Carly Rae Jepsen says she named her son after 'Heated Rivalry' character

Carly Rae Jepsen has revealed that her newborn son was named Ilya after Ilya Rozanov, the character played by Connor Storrie in the series Heated Rivalry.

The 40-year-old singer discussed the Crave hockey romance while speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Jepsen confirmed that she was a fan of the series when discussing her son’s name.

“It was an incredible show,” she said. “Ilya is the name of my son. Maybe, not maybe because of that show.”

Jepsen welcomed her son Ilya in March with her husband, music producer Cole M.G.N., whose full name is Cole Marsden Greif-Neill.

The couple married in October 2025 at the Chelsea Hotel’s Bard Room in New York, with Jepsen’s aunt and uncle officiating the ceremony. They have been in a relationship since 2022.

Jepsen also addressed the possibility of contributing music to Heated Rivalry Season 2. She said it would be a “dream” to write an original song for the series after director Jacob Tierney said he wanted to ask her to create a song for the upcoming season.

Heated Rivalry debuted in November 2025 and is based on Rachel Reid’s books. The series follows professional hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov as their secret romance develops over several years.

The series is currently filming its second season in Toronto, with Season 2 scheduled for release in April 2027.

The show has developed a large online following, although its cast members have also addressed negative behaviour from some fans.

In March, Hudson Williams and François Arnaud criticised racist, homophobic, biphobic, misogynistic, ageist, ableist, parasocial and bigoted comments directed towards the cast.
