Nicole Kidman reacts to Adéla naming new song after her

Nicole Kidman has reacted to Slovak singer Adéla naming a song after her, revealing that she plans to see the rising pop star perform in Nashville.

The song, titled “Nicole Kidman”, is the second track on Adéla’s upcoming debut album, Prima. The singer unveiled the album’s tracklist on Tuesday, with “Nicole Kidman” following the opening track “KGB”.

Kidman addressed the song during the London premiere of Practical Magic 2 on Wednesday night.

A fan asked the Australian actress if she knew who Adéla was, prompting an initial moment of confusion before Kidman recognised the singer.

“Oh yes! She is [releasing a song named Nicole Kidman]! I do know! She’s Slovakian, right?” Kidman said.

“I hope it’s nice,” she added after learning about the track.

The fan responded that “everyone loves you”, before Kidman confirmed that she was familiar with Adéla and her music.

“I absolutely know who she is – and she’s coming to Nashville and I’m going to go and see her.”

Adéla first gained international attention after appearing on Netflix’s Dream Academy, the talent search that ultimately produced the girl group Katseye. Although she did not join the final group, she subsequently pursued a solo career.

Her latest single, “Ain’t In LA”, has become her biggest hit to date after gaining attention on TikTok and charting in both the UK and US. The song has reached the UK top 40.

Adéla has also explained the meaning behind the title of her debut album. “Prima means ‘first’, which is perfect since this is my debut,” she said in a press release.

“Being a prima ballerina means you’re the top dog or the best ballerina in the house,” she continued. “It’s a term of endearment in the ballerina community. I’m trying to be the prima ballerina of pop, and this is my first step to achieve that.”
