A feature-length documentary about late Minecraft content creator Technoblade is in development, with his family supporting the project.

Titled Technoblade Never Dies, after one of the creator’s well-known catchphrases, the film is being produced by Candle Media’s Candle True Stories.

Riot Games and Hypixel Studios are financing the project, with both companies planning to donate their profits from the film to charity.

The documentary is directed by filmmaker Steven Lake and is intended to tell the story of Technoblade, whose real name was Alex, through interviews, archival material and contributions from his global community.

According to Candle True Stories, the film will feature access to his family and friends alongside hundreds of hours of his own content.

It will examine how a California teenager developed the Technoblade persona and built an audience through Minecraft videos.

"Through intimate access to his family and friends, hundreds of hours of Technoblade's own content, and stories from the massive global community he inspired, the film will explore how a shy and anonymous California teenager transformed himself into a Minecraft warrior whose humor, skill and singular personality captured the hearts of millions."

Technoblade began making Minecraft videos as a teenager and achieved his goal of reaching 10 million YouTube subscribers in late 2021. He revealed his cancer diagnosis that year and continued communicating with fans during treatment.

He died in June 2022 at the age of 23. Following his death, his father, Marshall, shared his final message, "so long nerds", and revealed his son's name.

His YouTube channel now has nearly 23 million subscribers. His influence has also continued through gaming culture, including a tribute to his crowned-pig avatar in 2025's “A Minecraft Movie”.

The documentary will also examine Technoblade's relationship with his community. More than 400,000 fan messages were collected in a virtual Minecraft memorial and turned into 22 books of condolences for his family.

"'Technoblade Never Dies' is an endearing and authentic exploration of the positive power of the internet and video games," Lake said. "The Technoblade story is a triumphant exploration of the echo that the ones we love leave behind."

The film has just entered production and does not yet have a release date or distribution deal.
