Jeff Kober reveals the one reason he'd return to 'General Hospital'

Jeff Kober has revealed the one thing that could convince him to return to General Hospital: the chance to work with Genie Francis again.

The 72-year-old actor, who played Cyrus Renault on the long-running ABC soap, opened up about a possible return while speaking exclusively to People. Kober made his General Hospital debut in 2020 and appeared on the series on and off for five years before Cyrus was killed off.

Asked whether he would consider returning to Port Charles, Kober made it clear that Francis would be the deciding factor.

"I love to work and I would do anything with Genie. She's a great actress and a great scene partner. She's someone who'll go anywhere you want to go with them."

He added, "So, if they bring me back and let me work with her, I wouldn't mind making the drive over to Prospect Studios."

Kober previously reunited with Francis in December 2025, when he briefly reprised Cyrus in a dream sequence involving Francis' character, Laura Spencer. The experience appears to have reinforced how much he enjoys working with the veteran actress.

"I would say I'm closest to her in that we both get excited when we can work together because both of us want to make it as rich as possible and find the dangerous areas of it, and see what happens there," Kober previously told PEOPLE.

Kober's connection to General Hospital has also earned him major recognition. He won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Drama Series in 2022 and was nominated again this year.

At the same time, Kober has made history with his work on HBO's The Pitt. He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for playing Duke Ekins, making him the only actor nominated for both a Daytime and Primetime Emmy in the same year.

Kober submitted himself for the Primetime Emmy consideration after believing his work on The Pitt deserved to be seen.

"There are so many great performances on this show, and they have a limited number of people that they can submit," he told PEOPLE. "But I knew it was a job that I wanted to have seen."

His The Pitt nomination comes during an exceptional year for the series, which led all programmes with 25 Emmy nominations.

For now, Kober remains focused on his current work, but his message to General Hospital is clear: if a return means another chance to share the screen with Genie Francis, he would be happy to make the trip back to Prospect Studios.
