Hayden Panettiere’s former neighbour says she called 911 multiple times to report disturbances involving the actress and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson.
Mia Terrazzas, who lived near Panettiere’s apartment in West Hollywood, discussed her experiences with Inside Edition on Wednesday following the actress’s death at 36 in Greenville, South Carolina.
Terrazzas said she contacted emergency services at least half a dozen times over disturbances at the property.
Asked whether she had noticed signs of domestic violence, Terrazzas replied, “Oh, absolutely.”
She also recalled seeing Panettiere being taken away on a gurney and claimed Hickerson was beside her at the time.
“I saw her leaving on a gurney. Brian was right next to her, and I asked her if she was OK, and it looked to me that she had suffered some type of trauma that looked to be battering,” she said. “It was clear she was terrified.”
Terrazzas also claimed notices were posted around the property by the homeowners association last year, advising residents to call 911 if Hickerson was seen. She said the notices were removed a week later.
Panettiere had previously discussed physical abuse by Hickerson in her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, published earlier this year. Hickerson was sentenced to 45 days in jail in 2021 after pleading no contest to two felony counts of injuring Panettiere.
“This predator was in our community. He never stopped living at her place. There were times he ripped apart her bathroom, where he just took a sledgehammer at five in the morning,” Terrazzas alleged.
A police report said Hickerson and his brother were at the South Carolina property when Panettiere was pronounced dead.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has said her cause and manner of death remain pending investigation, with no obvious signs of trauma reported. Officials were reportedly heard discussing “overdose” and “cardiac arrest” on the 911 call.
