Dolly Parton was unable to attend the opening of Dollywood's newest attraction on Friday as she continues to deal with ongoing health issues.

The country music icon was expected to be part of the launch of NightFlight Expedition, a new ride at her Tennessee theme park, but was forced to miss the event because she was not feeling well.

Parton's absence comes after she has previously spoken publicly about experiencing health problems and taking time away from her usual schedule. In March, she said she had been dealing with "a few little health issues" and was receiving medical care.

The 80-year-old singer has also scaled back her professional commitments in recent months. She has not been touring and has acknowledged that she needs to take better care of herself following a difficult period that included the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March 2025.

Despite Parton's absence, Dollywood proceeded with the opening of NightFlight Expedition, which is being billed as one of the park's major new attractions.

Parton remains closely involved with the theme park she co-founded with the Herschend family in 1986. Dollywood has become one of Tennessee's most popular tourist destinations and a significant part of Parton's legacy outside music.

Her latest absence has nevertheless prompted renewed concern among fans, particularly as she continues to take time away from public appearances while focusing on her health.
