Mason Thames reveals he and McKenna Grace filmed 'Nimrods' before Regretting You and may reunite for another film

Mason Thames and McKenna Grace may be ready to share the screen again after working together on two movies, Regretting You and Nimrods.

Thames recently revealed that he and Grace filmed the Green Day-inspired movie Nimrods before working on the romantic drama Regretting You. Although audiences saw them together in Regretting You first, Thames said the pair actually filmed Nimrods beforehand.

“So we did Green Day first. Green Day movie first, and then we did Regretting You right after,” Thames told Deadline. He described having two projects with Grace released around the same time as “wild,” adding that he was excited for audiences to finally see Nimrods.

Thames also suggested that he and Grace would be interested in collaborating again if the right project comes along.

“If we were ever going to do another job together, we’d want it to be so special and so awesome,” he said, adding that they would take the opportunity when it arises.

In Nimrods, Thames plays Tommy, a young musician who receives an invitation for his band, Analog Dogs, to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles. After discovering that the invitation is part of a prank, Tommy steals his brother’s car and begins a cross-country road trip with his bandmates.

During the journey, Tommy meets Olivia, played by Grace, a fellow punk musician who catches his attention after performing live.

Both Thames and Grace contribute to the Nimrods soundtrack. Director and co-writer Lee Kirk praised the young actors for their musical performances and said Grace’s involvement and Thames’ singing helped bring authenticity to the film.

With Nimrods now in theatres, fans may have to wait to see whether Thames and Grace reunite for another project.
