Meghan Markle reportedly confronted Roland Mouret over mishap involving Kate Middleton’s stylist, his memoir claims

Meghan Markle reportedly told fashion designer Roland Mouret that he had embarrassed her after a mistake involving Kate Middleton’s stylist, according to the designer’s new memoir.

In I Am Roland Mouret: The Butcher’s Boy Who Dressed the World, the French designer reflects on his friendship with the Duchess of Sussex and recalls an incident that allegedly strained their relationship.

According to an excerpt published by The Times on October 16, Mouret first met Meghan in 2015 at the opening of Soho House in Istanbul. They remained in contact, and he offered to send her a selection of outfits after she began dating Prince Harry in 2016.

Mouret writes that he instructed his team to deliver the clothes to the palace, asking them to keep the arrangement private and avoid following up. However, a member of his team later contacted Kate Middleton’s stylist at Kensington Palace to arrange the return of Meghan’s dresses.

The designer says Meghan subsequently called him, expressing her anger over the situation.

“You don’t realize what you’ve done! You’ve embarrassed me!” she allegedly told him, according to the memoir.

Mouret says he apologised and explained that the contact had been an innocent mistake. However, he claims Meghan responded that she could never wear his designs again.

The designer later recalled reaching out to Meghan after seeing her wearing what he described as a high-street copy of one of his creations. According to Mouret, she responded positively to his message and suggested meeting again.

Despite the reported disagreement, Meghan has continued to wear Mouret’s designs. Earlier in 2026, she appeared in promotional photographs for her As ever lifestyle brand wearing a navy dress by the designer.

Kate has also worn creations from Mouret’s fashion label, including at Wimbledon.

PEOPLE reported that it had contacted Meghan’s representatives for comment. The alleged exchange and its circumstances have not been independently confirmed.
