Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, Barry Keoghan and Harris Dickinson have been spotted filming Sam Mendes’ highly anticipated Beatles biopic at the famous Abbey Road crossing in London.

A video shared on social media shows the four actors recreating the iconic Beatles album cover, with Mescal portraying Paul McCartney, Quinn as George Harrison, Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Dickinson as John Lennon.

The footage offers a glimpse at The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, Mendes’ ambitious four-part Beatles biopic. Each movie will tell the story of the legendary band from the perspective of one of its members.

Sony Pictures has scheduled all four Beatles movies for release in April 2028. The project is particularly significant because it marks the first time The Beatles and their estates have granted approval for the band’s life rights and music to be used in a theatrical feature film.

The star-studded cast also includes Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono and Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd. Harry Lloyd, David Morrissey, Leanne Best, Bobby Schofield, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, Arthur Darvill and Adam Pally are also part of the ensemble.

The official logline for the project reads, “Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary.”

Mendes, who is directing all four films, previously described the project as the “first binge-able theatrical experience” during CinemaCon 2025. Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman also revealed that principal photography would span a year.

It remains unclear whether the four Beatles films will debut simultaneously or arrive weekly throughout April 2028. However, the Abbey Road filming suggests the production is already recreating some of the band’s most recognisable moments.
